PhotojournalismHere, we will discuss the photojournalists who inspired our own work. |

I researched photojournalists, and came across the work of Bill Brandt, who was a photojournalist in the 1930s. He focussed on British society, and much of his work appears to be decisive moment. He specialised in landscape and portraiture, and was often influenced by the work of Man Ray.
I liked the ways that Brandt, much like in the photo above, used decisive moment, in that he observed life without disturbing it. I wish to use this concept when doing my photojournalism in Eastbourne.

I researched a Photojournalist called Robert Doisneau
Robert Doisneau was a French photographer who was mostly famous for his renowned photograph called Le baiser de l’hôtel de ville (Kiss by the Town Hall). Mostly he photographed everyday life in Paris.
“I don’t photograph life as it is, but as I would like it to be” – Robert Doisneau
He did not enjoy photographing beautiful women in elegant surroundings when he was contracted by Vogue; he preferred street photography. In fact before World War II Robert Doisneau was an industrial advertising photographer for Renault but after five years he was fired because he was constantly late for work.
His most famous photograph, Le baiser de l’hôtel de ville (Kiss by the Town Hall), is recognised as a symbol for young love in Paris.
“I would never have dared to photograph people like that. Lovers kissing in the street, those couples are rarely legitimate.” – Robert Doisneau, 1992
The main reason why I liked this particular photojournalist is because his photographs were very much decisive moment photography and by doing this he visioned Paris in a more interesting way. I hope that I reflected this type of photography in my photojournalism essay.

After researching a dozen of photojournalists the work of Ajay Menon caught my eye. He is one of the new crop of digital photojournalists who works in India, capturing stunning images of the idiosyncratic world he lives in. Brilliant use of colour pallette during post production is what catches the eye of the viewer.
For my photojournalism essay I would like to use brilliant colour schemes to bring out the life in images and make it look more 21st century.
