God's Waiting Room... For my photojournalism essay, I visited the seaside town of Eastbourne. It's been nicknamed as "God's waiting room" due to the vast amount of elderly people moving there in retirement. On the cold day when I visited in October, the pier and seafront had been shut up for winter, yet the old residents were still wondering around the beach, buttoned up tight in their coats. It made me think of the parallels between the pier in winter and these elderly people coming towards the end of their lives. There was still life at the Eastbourne pier, even though it didn't look much like it. |
