 Week 1

First Group Meeting- Friday 28th September 2012

Introduction to Yolasite. We debated ideas how we should present the website, brainstorming coloours and layouts.

We started thinking about which roles people should take and production name ideas. We finally concluded for our production name we shall go with ‘A Reel Slice Production’. We decided on this ‘name’ as we liked working with the technical designs of media, we feel it provides a professional tone. We read started to read through the copyright information from the learning network to start to gain an understanding what was expected of us.

Week 3

Development of website, working on personal profile pages. Looking into 4OD documentaries, with what topics seem to be more popular. We then discussed how to promote ourselves as a production group. Started thinking as a group what documentary modes we would like to display in our documentary.

Aim;

Each individual to create two documentary ideas, maybe get in contact with people who relate to your most favourite documentary idea. Consider audience, reality in creating documentary, and even costs.

Week 4

Monday 15th October 2012

Creating write ups for documentary ideas. We chose three final documentaries to look into, being the following, Nuclear Power; pro's and cons, Aberfan Disaster and The Hamster Man. We have spoken to EDF energy, and Nuclear power is looking to be our most positive documentary idea. We have researched into locations were we could film, and found protesters who would be willing to film. however must always keep in mind they could back out.

Aim:

Talk to Karin and others about idea, and hear opinions. Is it a good or bad idea?

Wednesday 17th October 2012

Show nuclear power research on website, while still looking into further ideas. Group check to make sure all ideas are explained on the website.  Also reviewing and analysing documentaries.

Aim:

Create promotional development

Sunday 21st October 2012

Create promotion through web 2.0, creating our twitter and Facebook pages according to 'A Reel Slice Productions'

Week 5

Tuesday 23rd October 2012

Further work on website, developing promotional web pages, such as Facebook and twitter, to gain followers, and let people know who we are.

After promoting our ideas for our class and much discussion we have decided that our Nuclear Power-plant documentary would be hard to portray. Not only that, after researching further, we have discovered the topic has been used a few times in documentary, and we would find it hard as a young group to discover another way to approach the idea, to make the documentary more individual, instead of being just another nuclear documentary on the pros and cons.

Aims:

To look into our other ideas, and see which one we could develop further. As a group we have alot more research and development to do.

Week 6

Monday 29th October 2012

Still considering ideas for final documentary. Keep emailing Karen with ideas, and contact outsiders to develop research, and opportunity of documentary being viable.

Aim:

Work on photojournalism to make sure all is uploaded and ready for week 7 deadline

Sunday 4th November 2012

After looking in to Aberfan Disaster, decided this idea is also done... feeling very low

Week 7

Wednesday 7th November 2012

All photo-essays complete and upload with technical practice on each individual page. For documentary ideas we carried on looking in newspapers, websites, BBC news, and we have finally found a man who could be interesting to look into. Chris Todd is an adventurer, there isn't a lot about him over the weekend, which could work in our advantage to promote him. He recently travelled over the Irish Sea in a hamster wheel device, which he unfortunately failed. We have also discovered that he is doing a Q & A presentation on Wednesday 21st November in which our producer is now trying to get seats for a Reel Slice Productions to go and check him out.

Aims

Still work on website by reviewing films and revising over codes and conducts

Look at possible ways we could make a documentary on Chris Todd

Maybe look for other primaries that are 'adventurers'

Get seats for Q & A presentation

Week 8

Tuesday 13th November 2012

Q & A presentation with Chris Todd seats are booked. We have also got permission to record sound & visual the whole Q & A presentation. We started thinking of ways to portray Chris Todd, and we have heard rumours that he could be trying the 'walking on water' exhibition again in the new year. This will be one of the questions we will possibly ask next wednesday. We have also considered the possibility to film Chris' journey of 'walking on water' again, if he is too, and if we get permission.

Aims

Create questions to ask chris

Keep progress on yola

Week 9

Wednesday 21st November 2012

Half of A Reel Slice Productions went to the Q&A with Chris Todd. The presentation was very successful, the team had the opportunity to talk to Chris Todd after the presentation, he was very interested about the documentary, and invited us for a personal one on one interview at him home. We also decided to create our pitch in week 12 around this documentary idea as we have our primary on board.

Aims

Plan a date for the interview with Chris Todd

Start using q&a footage to create a promo

Show idea on Yola, Twitter and Facebook

Week 10

Wednesday 28th November 2012

Interview arranged for Thursday 6th November. Today we planned questions, who shall attend the interview and how we would present the idea of filming with him next year.

Week 11

Thursday 6th December 2012

Personal interview with Chris Todd at his house. Went extremely well, we got our own photos of his home, interview went really well and got a good sense of character. Chris also gave us footage, photos and information we could use in our promo.

Friday 7th November 2012

Working on presentation, going through interview, preparing for pitch on wednesday. Also working on other ways to advertise our documentary.
